Duration of the Course

The duration of the Course is 2 years. A student has to complete his/her programme within 5 years. There is no provision for re-admission in this programme.

MEDIUM AND MODE OF INSTRUCTION

The medium and mode of instruction is English. However, the student teachers are allowed to prepare their assignments, practical records and the term and examinations either in English or Tamil.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • Trained in-service teachers in elementary education.
  • Candidates who have completed a NCTE recognized teacher education programme through face-to-face mode.
  • The school teachers with a Bachelor’s degree in Tamil/ English/ Mathematics/ Physics/ Chemistry/ Botany/ Zoology/ History/ Geography/ Computer Science or a Post- Graduate degree in Economics/ Commerce/ Home Science.
  • The candidates should have undergone 10+2+3 or 11+1+3 (15) pattern of study and passed the qualifying examination conducted by the respective State Board or CBSE or any other recognized Board of examination/ and UG Degree Examination of the UGC recognized Universities in any one of the school subjects offered by Directorate of School Education at the Secondary / Higher Secondary Education level.
  • However, candidates not qualified in XII examination or PUC but possessing Two Years Bachelor Preparatory Programme Certificate / Foundation Course / Two Years Diploma Course conducted by State Government/ recognized Universities and qualified with three years UG Degree course are also considered eligible.
  • The candidates who have passed part III under Triple Major System in UG Degree are eligible to take one of the three subjects only as optional II. The aggregate marks of all the three subjects will be considered for admission.
  • The candidates who have qualified in PG Degree (5 Years Integrated Course) under 10+2+5 pattern of study are eligible.
  • . Candidates must be currently working in schools (Primary / Middle / High School / Higher Secondary / Matriculation) in Tamil Nadu recognized by State / Central Government.

THE FOLLOWING CANDIDATES ARE NOT ELIGIBLE

  • Candidates who have passed the UG (or) PG Degree OUS without qualifying in 11 years SSLC exam or 1 year of PUC examination (or) 10 +2 pattern of School education shall not be considered for admission.
  • Candidates having a direct UG Degree (without +2 qualifications) / Direct Post – Graduate Degree (without UG Degree) are not eligible for admission.
  • Candidates who have passed Under Double Degree / Additional Degree programme with less than 3 years duration are not eligible for admission.
  • Those who are working in Colleges / ITIs / Polytechnics are not eligible.
  • Applicants having a Cross-Major Subject in PG Degree (that is, PG subject different from UG subject) are not eligible. (For example, a candidate having UG degree in Mathematics and PG degree in English are not eligible).

RESERVATION POLICY

Reservation of seats will be made as per the rules and regulations of Government of Tamil Nadu

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

The University will send call letters to all the provisionally selected candidates for B.Ed Admission and allotment of Study Centre’s will be made through Pre-Admission Counselling. Counselling will be conducted at Manonmaniam Sundaranar University Campus. Those who do not report themselves on the day of the Pre-Admission Counselling session will forfeit their claim for a seat.

PROCEDURE FOR PAYMENT OF FEE

After getting the admission card, candidates should remit the tuition fee and other charges in one consolidated Demand Draft drawn in favour of “The Registrar, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli” payable at Tirunelveli, TamilNadu before the deadline stated in admission card. Otherwise a penalty of Rs.100/- should be paid along with regular fee after the due date. Payment should not be made in cash.

Name of the Candidate, application number or enrolment number, purpose of remittance, name of the study centre and the course of study should be entered in the Bank challan. Acknowledgement card will be given to the students for the payment of tuition fee for reference and record.

Note:

Students should remit the fees within the due date and no separate intimation will be sent individually.

ASSIGNMENTS AND PRACTICALS

Assignments play an integral part of the instructional system. The candidates have to submit two theories and one practical oriented assignment for each theory course. The practical courses consist of workshop based, school based activities and practice teaching the workshop will be conducted for 20 days each year in the respective study centre’s / colleges. Attendance in the workshop is compulsory.
