In Kanyakumari District, there is a great demand for teaching faculty members in English and Mathematics, since the district has a mushroom growth of CBSE, ICSE and Matriculation Schools. Therefore the undergraduate students of this district like to join PG courses, particularly in English Literature and Mathematics.
There are about 30 Colleges providing higher education (both aided and self-financed) to the pupil of Kanyakumari District. Out of 39,100 students pursuing Under Graduate courses in different colleges in Kanyakumari District, only 7,110 (18.2%) are opting for Post Graduate level courses due to low-level access to higher education. Keeping in view of promoting higher education in the district, the Post Graduate Extension Centre certainly is paving a way for higher education not only in quality but also in the quantity which is essential today for economic development based on the recommendations given by the National Knowledge Commission.
As per the G.O. (Ms) No.76, Higher Education (H2) Department, dated 25.05.2012, the Government of Tamil Nadu granted permission to establish the Post Graduate Extension Centre of Manonmaniam Sundaranar University in Kanyakumari District. Accordingly, the Centre was established in Kanyakumari District during the academic year 2014-2015.
The Government of Tamil Nadu approved the following courses:

Government High School Campus, Nesavalar Street, Vadasery, Nagercoil
The main objective of this Post Graduate Extension Centre is to make the student employable. In order to achieve this objective, Mathematics for Competitive Examinations and English Language for Competitive Examinations are respectively taught to Mathematics and English Literature students through supportive courses. This will give confidence to the students to face any competitive examinations.
